Expectations

Are they always a bad thing? Many times people tell you not to have expectations or to manage your expectations. Generally, I would agree. Except in the case of following God.

Expectations are defined as “a strong belief that something will happen or be the case in the future.”

God has really been speaking to my heart about expectations and patience. He is the God of the universe. There is nothing he cannot do. I’ve been learning about expecting GOOD from Him, expecting Him to show up, expecting amazing things to happen. Why not expect God to do amazing things? He rewards his children for coming to him with big faith. If you think about it, there is nothing to lose, but only things to gain.

Earlier this summer, I really struggled with hopelessness. I had been praying for joy and for God to show up, but I remained feeling lost and hopeless. When I started to expect God to meet me, to transform me, that is when he began to move.
And not only did he move, he moved in BIG ways.
One of my dear friends encouraged me by saying, “I am encouraged by your drought. It means there will be a fountain and you will hit water.” When I was young, I would go to the beach and dig and dig in attempts to “dig to China.” Eventually, I hit water and then stopped digging. When you persevere and trust in the Lord, he rewards you. Water is a spring and that signifies life. Life is happening, transformation is happening, and it’s so good. 🙂
